Graduation [Dec. 5th, 2005|11:20 pm]
Mr. Fire Drill Inspector
I can't believe it! The day has arrived! I am going to be GRADUATING from COLLEGE in a week! This Saturday I will be taking the English CST exam. I am really worried about the essay portion of the test, but I should do OK on the MC section. The weather is supposed to be good, so that's a relief.

I am going to be BORED out of my mind. I am starting to check newspapers, bulletin boards etc. for job postings. Rich and I are going to try and get sub applications and make some REAL money. I could probably make around 700 bucks every two weeks if I get on the Oswego sub list. The problem is- the waiting list is really long for secondary education. EEK.

Student teaching is going GREAT! We had a false fire drill this morning. I guess a spider got in the smoke sensor and set it off. It was mighty cold outside!!!

Well, it's time for BED!! I didn't sleep very well last night, and I need to get some quality rest. Tomorrow is a quick day. THANK GOD!!!

Nighty Night.

Student Teaching Update [Sep. 20th, 2005|07:00 pm]
Mr. Fire Drill Inspector
Can you believe it? THere have been two and a half weeks of school....NO FIRE DRILLS! I don't know what the heck they are waiting for? Even the other teachers are complaining about it. The more we get into the semester, the bigger disruption it will be. There is always tomorrow, and the weather is supposed to be nice.

Student teaching is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I can't wait to get up in the morning and go to school. All of the teachers are just fantastic, the kids are great, and everything seems to be going well. This whole supervisor thing is a real pain in the ass. My new guy has not given me specifics on what assignments he wants etc. This is just a HUGE pain in the ass. There are still a few more things that need to be done, but I should get time on Thursday to get those things done.

One of the teachers in the building got injured at school last week. Rumor has it, they are interviewing people for the job, but Lia Reistrom REALLY wants me to take over for the class. Supposedly, there was a HUGE meeting today to discuss everything, but no one understands what's happening.

I can't think.

Katrina...and a tooth [Aug. 31st, 2005|10:27 pm]

[music |Remember Me...Josh Groban]

The more I hear about Katrina, the worse I feel. I know that Rich would LOVE to move to Florida, but guess what- I will take lake effect snow storms ANY DAY over these horrible tropical storms. Yes, snow puts a damper on things for a few days, but it always goes away. Snow can cause damage, but not that extensive. My thoughts and prayers go out to the people who have been devasated by Katrina.

Anyhow, student teaching begins in only a few days. The closer it gets, the more I get excited. I am student teaching at Henninger High School in Syracuse, New York. I will be teaching 10th grade English, with two advanced Literature classes. I have been a little neglectful on completing my preassignments, but I will do some of that tonight. I have had so much going on, and really, I want to be well rested before school starts next week.

I bought a YAMAHA CLAVINOVA. It is amazing and I LOVE IT! I have that to take away my stress. Unfortunately, I don't to play it as often as I like. I feel that if I play it, I might be bothering other people in the house. They like it, I just don't want to be more annoying than I already am. :-)

I got my first tooth pulled today. It was probably one of the weirdest things I have ever had done. Well, maybe the stent removal procedure is close, but it just felt weird. The dentist was very gentle, and said to me, "man, those are the biggest roots I have ever seen!"

Rich is always depressed. I wish there was something I could do. I always feel like it's my fault! It seems to me that he isn't happy no matter what I try to do, or whatever anyone else tries to do. I just wish I could do something to make him feel better...:-(

Well...I will update as much as I can.

TOOTH [Aug. 4th, 2005|05:58 pm]
Mr. Fire Drill Inspector
[mood |angryangry]

You know what..I sincerely hope my health starts improving!! I go from one thing to another. People prolly think I am insane, but my pain is real, and my symptoms are never-ending. Needless to say, I have no dental insurance. The last thing I need is another medical bill. They are already piling up like crazy. I have my caseworker in Mexico, and she NEVER, EVER bothers to call me back. I don't know what that lady does all day. I have to find SOME WAY of getting this damn tooth removed. My tooth is killing me. I have been taking Tylenol every 4 hours to kill the nerve pain, but after around 2 1/2 hours it gets bad again. I am overdosing on Orajel because it actually numbs the pain.

Because tomorrow is Friday, I hope that my caseworker will call me and give me advice as to where I can get this tooth done. I feel miserable. At least the kidneys are better.

Wedding rehearsal shortly. I hate being bored!

HARBORFEST 2005! [Jul. 31st, 2005|05:36 pm]
Mr. Fire Drill Inspector
Well, the Grucci family surely made up for their huge flop a few years back. The fireworks were just FANTASTIC last night. Although some people still believe that Breitbeck is the best place to see the fireworks, I totally disagree. The fort has NOTHING in the way at all! There are no trees; there are no people! It is as simple as that. This year, the gang for the fort fireworks were the following people;
Snakes, Bethy, Donna, David, Brad, Lisa, Natey, Linda and her brother/family, and two of Brian's friends from Utica. It really was such a NICE evening; not to mention the weather was just spectacular, and the bugs were staying away!!

Anyhow, Harborfest was certainly better than it has been in a while, but I will be glad once Oswego returns to normal again!

Only a few more weeks until student teaching! YIKES!

MOST [Jul. 20th, 2005|11:30 pm]
Mr. Fire Drill Inspector
Today was a very nice day. Not only was the weather decent, but Snakes and I went to the MOST in Syracuse. I remember going there once before, but it must have been in a different life. The IMAX experience is just FANTASTIC. I would love to go to the one in Rochester and see something. I really didn't know what to expect, seeming as how it was my first time. Needless to say, I was HIGHLY impressed.

Anyhow, on the way home, we went to the Olive Garden to eat. I saw my High School Economics teacher, Ms. Cheryl Irwin. She informed me that Mary Beth Fierro had her twins on Monday night. I was so excited. Mary Beth is almost 45 years old, and JUST HAD TWINS! Having has as a teacher in high school, I can always remember her wanting children and not being able to have them. I was really surprised to hear that Mary Beth is actually NOT returning to school right away on September. THIS IS A GOOD THING! She will certainly have her hands full!

Rich and I just got done watching Episode 4 of ER season 3. It keeps getting better and better, so I certainly hope they put a rush on Season Four.

Tomorrow is REST day! My kidney is STILL hurting- Even after the stent being taken out. I hope this doesn't mean infection.

Bye for now.

THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE IS HERE [Jul. 16th, 2005|01:37 am]
Mr. Fire Drill Inspector
[mood |relievedrelieved]

The time is now 1:37pm EST, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has arrived into my bedroom. Although I would love to be reading the book, my boyfriend has taken over it. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow. Slitherin Snake can read 800 pages in one day. I am wondering who the half-blood prince will be, but my guess is that J.K. Rowling will fool us all.

As an educator, it truly made me smile to see all of the wonderful children and adults lined up to receive their prize- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I love reading, and it is a shame that so many children hate it. As teachers, it is important, especially at a young age, to teach our children to appreciate reading. If you notice, many adults love to read. In school, they had to read! Now a days, so many students are advanced on to the grade level, never achieving any comprehension of the materials they read. Students are pushed by NEW YORK STATE to take all these damn examinations. It makes my blood boil, but what can you do? After tonight, I can't WAIT for my student teaching to begin. I have waited this long. My ultimate goal is to teach every single one of my students, even that pain in the ass student who will constantly give me a hard time, to love and appreciate reading.
